German Handelsblatt: Used car check: Small, chic and expensive – the Audi Q2 can do that as a used car007114

Used car check: Audi Q2

The smallest SUV from Ingolstadt is also popular as a used car.

In the Audi nomenclature, the letter Q stands for the designation of the SUV. So far, the Qs are numbered from 2 to 8 according to size. However, the smallest, the Q2, is nearing the end. Audi will sort out the entry-level models, the Q2 and also the A1, and concentrate on business from the compact class upwards.
The smallest Q, available since 2016, is still available. He is also present on the used car market. The TÜV knows what those interested in used cars should look out for.
body and interior
Small but not cramped: The Q2 stretches to a length of around 4.20 meters and is therefore between the small car A1 and the compact A3. The SUV shares the technical basis with the compact model. However, the space available in the Q2 is better, even in the rear it is still comparatively airy. The seating position is pleasantly high and the overview is good.

The trunk volume varies between 405 and 1,050 liters depending on the seat configuration. The luggage compartments of the Quattro models (all-wheel drive) are 50 liters smaller.

No successor planned

However, the Q2 was not a resounding success, and Audi canceled the successor

Classy to start with

The interior is quite classy for this class.

Small, and almost fine: Inside, the Q2 is a typical Audi. In other words, with the right equipment line and plenty of extras, the interior is transformed into an oasis of well-being. At least almost. Unlike the larger A or Q brothers, a lot of hard plastic is used in the small Ingolstadt. But there is nothing to complain about in terms of processing.
At the end of 2020, the Q2 received a facelift with, among other things, a modified daytime running light graphic and a modified radiator grille design. Since then, the Q2 has been delivered with LED headlights as standard.
engines and propulsion
Small to strong. The petrol and diesel come from the VW Group shelf, include three and four-cylinder engines and have to do without any electrification support, for example through mild hybridization. The base petrol engine is a 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 85 kW/116 hp and 200 Nm (since 2021: with 81 kW/110 hp), above which is a 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 110 kW/150 hp and a Two-liter with 140 kW/190 hp.
The top unit has all-wheel drive ex works, and power is transmitted via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which Audi calls S tronic. First-time buyers could order this for the other petrol engines as an alternative to the manual six-speed gearbox. On average, the Ottos consume between 5.1 and 6.4 liters.

Less storage space

The trunk is small, as is typical for small cars

With the changeover to the Euro 6d emissions standard in 2018, the petrol engines come with a particle filter ex works and are now known as 30 TFSI (116 hp), 35 TFSI (1.5-liter engine with 150 hp) and 40 TFSI (190 PS). According to WLTP, between 5.9 and 8.5 liters flow through the lines. The SQ2 is new. The two-liter TFSI delivers 221 kW/300 hp. Audi specifies the average consumption as 8.5 to 8.8 liters.
The diesel range is slightly smaller. Like the petrol engines, the diesels were initially available with 116, 150 and 190 hp. The 1.6-liter entry-level unit is only available with front-wheel drive, the two more powerful 2.0-liter diesels have Quattro and S tronic as standard. In addition to torque values of 250, 340 and 400 Nm, the diesel engines score points with standard consumption of between 4.1 and 5.1 liters. The 190 hp diesel flew out of the program in the summer of 2018.
equipment and security
Small and expandable. The Q2 is offered in three equipment lines: Q2, Q2 Sport and Q2 Design. The basic equipment is okay, but not lavish and serves more to push the basic price down to a reasonably tolerable level. But no matter which variant the first owner liked: the temptation of the extensive price list, including a virtual cockpit, connectivity solutions, navigation system, leather and aluminum, could hardly have been resisted by many buyers.
Distance radar, pedestrian and traffic sign recognition or a traffic jam assistant support the driver. At the Euro NCAP 2016, the small Audi achieved a 5-star rating.

Quality
Small and exemplary. In the two TÜV main inspections (HU) that have been completed so far, Audi’s smallest Q has shown itself from its best side. 96.5 percent of the tested Q2 passed the first HU without defects, the second 93.9 percent. The average for all vehicles examined is 91.6 or 86 percent. So the examiners rarely find anything to criticize. The brake discs can be worn out; very occasionally the suspension springs are defective.
Conclusion and market
Small and expensive. The Audi Q2 is hardly inferior to its larger brand brothers in terms of premium quality. It looks good, offers decent space for its dimensions and the engine selection is quite large. There are also plenty of customization options. According to an evaluation by mobile.de, there are currently around 5,000 offers on this online platform; the price level ranges from around 14,000 to 56,000 euros for demonstration vehicles. On average, Audi’s smallest Q is traded for 29,000 euros.
