Xpeng to integrate Access infotainment software into its EVs

Xpeng has selected the Access Twine for Car (known as Twine4Car) infotainment solution to provide apps and games, including prominent streaming services, for its new EVs.

This integration will be available first in the OEM’s all-electric P7 sedan, which is set to arrive in select European markets in summer 2023. Existing Xpeng users will likewise be provided with the option to upgrade their cars to integrate the Twine4Car system through an OTA software update.

The Twine4Car platform ultimately enables OEMs to offer branded entertainment services through a content and app service solution designed for connected cars. The system’s app store includes popular social productivity apps, enabling occupants to access such apps when the EV is stationary, or while it is charging. For Xpeng, Access is also providing a new in-vehicle gaming portal that includes videogame console-equivalent games and high-compression streaming technology – allowing these games to be played at low-speed internet connections.

The platform’s key features include its app store, both HTLM5 and native, as well as Native Android App support – which allows for the integration of native applications to offer an immersive UX, enabling Xpeng to create an ideal UX for native apps as well as embedded or API-based services. Twine4Car’s Sync Play feature allows multiple devices to synchronize playback, allowing the vehicle’s passengers to view the same content on the screens in front of them simultaneously.
