The district administration has agreed to pay a compensation of INR 3,385 crore to 5,000 farmers in four talukas for acquiring 623 hectares of land for the first phase of Pune ring road project.
The revised compensation was announced after the state government in February directed the administration to consider land transaction rates as prevalent during the pre-Covid period in the four talukas. The earlier compensation announced was INR 2,500 crore.
A total of 1507.6 hectares of land would be acquired for the 172km ring road project, including 622.6 hectares for the western phase and 885 hectares for the eastern phase.
The land acquisition would be carried out in two phases — the western phase covering 32 villages in Maval, Mulshi, Haveli and Bhor talukas, and the eastern phase covering 49 villages in Khed, Haveli, Purandar, Bhor and Maval talukas. The administration has started work for the western phase. The administration plans to issue notices for land acquisition to landowners by June-end and complete the process by the end of July or August.
It also plans to simultaneously start land acquisition for the eastern phase in August and complete the process by September.
