The government has shared its concerns and suggestions with Germany over certain aspects in the latter’s global green hydrogen tender. The suggestions made are under consideration, renewable energy secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla said.
Some aspects of the tender were slightly “restrictive” as per some Indian companies.
“They had come up with some criteria where the (Indian) industry had brought some reservations. We have taken it up with the MEA… I believe it is under consideration,” the secretary said while addressing the media for the upcoming International Conference on Green Hydrogen in Delhi next month.
There were some issues which our industry felt were “restrictive”, but we have pointed them out to Germany through our Mission, and they are looking at it, Bhalla said.
India aims to be an important export hub of the fuel with a production capacity of at least 5 million tonnes by 2030 as announced in January. A joint declaration of intent on the Indo-German Green Hydrogen Task force was signed between the two countries in May 2022.
