The carmaker BMW sold significantly more cars in the second quarter. According to information from Friday, the Munich-based company sold a total of 626,726 BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce vehicles, which is 11.3 percent more than a year ago. Sales manager Pieter Nota spoke of a strong sales development overall and especially for fully electric vehicles. With 88,289 vehicles, the Munich company sold more than twice as many electric cars as in the previous year. There has been significant growth in all-electric models across all major regions.
The new 7 Series and the 4 Series with the all-electric i4 were particularly popular. The new 5 Series is also well received by customers, it said. For the first half of the year, the Munich company reported a sales increase of 4.7 percent to almost 1.215 million cars and motorcycles.

In the second quarter things went up in all important regions. Business was particularly good in the home market of Germany, where sales increased by 22.5 percent. But business in China is also picking up again: the Munich-based company is reporting an increase of 16.2 percent in its most important individual market. In the USA, BMW achieved an increase of 13.7 percent.
