Woodcliff Lake, NJ – July 10, 2023…MotoAmerica traveled to Monterey for round five of Superbike racing and for the second event in a row, the event did not have Stock 1000 riders take to the track. BMW M 1000 RR, Tytlers Cycle Racing rider, Cameron Beaubier, currently second in Medallia Superbike points, had high expectations for the three 20-lap races over the weekend, but luck was not on his side in Race 1, when he was taken out on the first lap after contact with another rider. Beaubier showed the power of the BMW M 1000 RR by taking wins in both Sunday races. NelsonMedallia Superbike Race 1, Saturday – Cameron Beaubier’s Saturday troubles continued for a second event in a row when he was taken out just after race start after contact with another rider. The race was red flagged, but Beaubier’s M 1000 RR was heavily damaged, and he would not be able to restart. At the restart of the now-19 lap race, PJ Jacobsen on the No. 99 BMW M 1000 RR, began the chase from 4th position with Corey Alexander on the No. 23 BMW in 9th and Ashton Yates on the No. 22 BMW in 12th. On Lap 4, Alexander made a pass to put himself into 3rd position and a potential podium finish. With just three laps to go, the rider in 4th position slid out, allowing Alexander and Yates to move up, just before the race was red flagged for the second and final time. Top ten BMW M 1000 RR finishers were: 1. PJ Jacobsen / Tytlers Cycle Racing 8. Corey Alexander / Tytlers Cycle Racing 10. Ashton Yates / Aftercare Scheibe Racing Race 2, Sunday – In the second of three Monterey Superbike races to take place over the weekend, a sore Cameron Beaubier started from pole position, on his back-up M 1000 RR, with hopes of leading the race from the start and avoiding any incidents which may occur in the field. A very wide line after the start forced Beaubier into second, chasing the Yamaha. The pair quickly put some distance between themselves and the rest of the field. PJ Jacobsen moved up through the field into 4th with Corey Alexander and Ashton Yates in 10th and 11th, respectively. On Lap 15, Beaubier, on his No. 6 Tytlers Cycle Racing BMW M 1000 RR, finally made his move and passed the leading Yamaha to put himself into first position and onto the podium for his 58th Superbike win. Top ten BMW M 1000 RR finishers were: 1. Cameron Beaubier / Tytlers Cycle Racing 7. Corey Alexander / Tytlers Cycle Racing Race 3, Sunday – Cameron Beaubier showed that his strategy of following the race leader, staying patient and using the power of his BMW M 1000 RR to attack and take the lead towards the end of the race has paid off again and again. In Race 3, Beaubier would put this strategy to the test yet again but instead of the Yamaha, he would be pushing the Ducati from P2. On turn 5 of Lap 12, Beaubier made his move to take over the lead, but the Ducati rider would not make it easy when he retook the lead from Beaubier two laps later. Just behind the leading pair was the Yamaha rider, waiting to see what would develop from the fierce battle ahead and ready to take advantage of any mistakes. With just 3 laps to go, the Yamaha rider was penalized 2 seconds by race control for an infraction, effectively taking him out of three-way the battle for the win. With just two laps to go, Beaubier attacked the Ducati under braking, going a bit sideways, but taking the race lead for good. Beaubier’s Tytlers Cycle Racing teammates. In Superbike Cup points, BMW M 1000 RR rider, Nolan Lamkin, leads the field. In the Steel Commander Stock 1000 Series, the standings remain unchanged with BMW M 1000 RR rider Ezra Beaubier in 1st place. His Orange Cat Racing teammate Kaleb De Keyrel is in 2nd with Travis Wyman in 3rd and Nolan Lamkin in 5th.
