MADRID, 17 Apr (EUROPA PRESS) –

Car2go defends that ‘car sharing’ plays a “very important” role in the advancement of electric mobility, since it shows that it is suitable for “very intense” use, reducing the doubts that users have about it, and improving air quality in cities “immediately”, among other advantages.

The company of temporary use of vehicles maintains that one of the decisive prerequisites for electric mobility to prevail is the answer to the question about how to “quickly” solve the initial problems with the new technology.

In this sense, he argues that the best way, and also the fastest, to discover it is to carry out an “intense” practical test, for example with the 1,400 electric cars that Car2go customers rent up to 15 times each day.

In addition, the firm emphasizes that, until there is a sufficient number of electric vehicles circulating, the charging stations will not be used properly. “The private buyer often decides not to buy an electric vehicle because the charging infrastructure is not complete enough for the daily use of an electric vehicle, e-carsharing can be a solution to this problem,” he says.

On the other hand, the company belonging to Daimler affirms that if the fleets of car sharing are completely electric, the positive effects on air quality and traffic congestion in the center of the cities will multiply.

Another reason why Car2go puts value on the service of temporary use of vehicles is because it offers a basis for the development and progress of electrical concepts.

“The all-electric car sharing is an optimal test environment for electric cars, so the technology is subject to maximum stress and demonstrates its suitability for daily use in real conditions,” says the CEO of the company. company, Olivier Reppert.

Car2go already operates with fully electric car sharing fleets in three cities (Stuttgart, Amsterdam and Madrid), with a total of 1,400 vehicles using 365,000 customers. By the end of 2019 they will introduce 400 more electric vehicles in Hamburg. Only in the capital of Spain, the 200,000 clients of the firm saved a total of 775 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) in a year.
