Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) has announced that it will invest more than INR 1.4 crore under its ‘Karpom Munneruvom’ (learning for progress) initiative to upgrade infrastructure at eight schools in and around Oragadam as part of its corporate social responsibility commitments for the 2023-24 financial year.
Between July and December 2023, RNAIPL will build classrooms and restrooms and set up RO plants for drinking water, CCTV cameras, and inverters for uninterrupted power supply.
The RNAIPL initiative supports the Tamil Nadu Education Department’s ‘Namma School’ initiative, which is working to enhance state public school infrastructure.
RNAIPL’s infrastructure upgrade projects will cover a total of eight schools in Orathur, Nattarasampattu, Gunduperumpedu, Vadakkupattu, Umayalparenenchery and Walajabad.
Toru Ihara, Nissan global chief HR officer, who was on a special visit to Chennai, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the first two classrooms at the Government Higher Secondary School at Vadakkupattu village.
