Ahead of World Youth Skill Day (15 June), Tata Technologies has reiterated its vision of upskilling and empowering youth with skills that boost their employability. The company has been empowering teachers and young innovators through various initiatives by partnering with governments, non-profit organisations, and educational institutions, implementing a multi-faceted approach to achieve this shared vision.
Tata Technologies engages with academia to equip future engineers with new skills. In this endeavour, the company has collaborated with several state governments and private institutes in India, transforming over 400 traditional ITIs and CIIITs into modern technology hubs in line with Industry 4.0 demand. Through this, it is equipping approximately 24,500 students with the skills they need to solve the most important challenges faced by the manufacturing industry.
The company empowers its employees with the skills and technologies necessary to innovate, design, and engineer the next generation of products. The iGETIT Programme, run by Tata Technologies, offers training courses that keep its workforce abreast of industry trends and help them acquire new skills. Additionally, the TechVarsity online training program has benefited more than 12,000 engineers, offering upskilling and cross-skilling learning paths through e-learning modules.
Through various initiatives promoting STEM education and the EVE (Empowerment Via Education) Ready Engineer programs, Tata Technologies has empowered over 35,000 future engineers across the country. The company has partnered with iRise for a teacher training program that equips educators with innovative techniques to foster young minds’ growth and development. This comprehensive teacher training programme has been in operation for over 18 months, with more than 3,000 teachers already trained in innovation-based teaching methods.
