The Mustang Mach-E might not be the first car you think of when someone says ‘rally’ but that’s not stopped Ford from building a rally-focused version of its all-electric SUV. Simply named the Mustang Mach-E Rally, Ford claims it has plans to put the wild off-roader into production with first examples going on sale in the UK before the end of the year.
We expect the Rally to be based on the Extended Range AWD version of the Mustang Mach-E rather than the range-topping GT, but that will still mean a total power output of 346bhp being sent to all for wheels thanks and a 91kWh battery.
The Mach-E Rally certainly looks like it would be at home on a rally special stage. There’s a new front bumper with an integrated splitter, a tow hook and additional fog lights in the closed-off grille.
To the side it features chunky off-road tyres and some bespoke alloy wheels. The ride height doesn’t look too dissimilar to the standard car’s, although beefed up suspension and damping will surely feature. At the rear there’s a huge WRC-inspired spoiler, plus a set of mud guards.
To further underline the Mach-E Rally’s hardcore nature, it’ll be driven up the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb by none other than Ford’s own Ott Tanak, former World Rally champion.
