After months of talks with its Chinese partners, Audi is about to fundamentally reorganize its business in China. According to negotiating circles, the aim is to ramp up the production of electric cars quickly. For this purpose, the VW subsidiary is planning to use a technical platform from the Chinese joint venture partner SAIC for the first time.
According to information from the Handelsblatt, Audi intends to use Chinese technology to produce electric sedans of the A3 and A4 series in Shanghai as early as next year. It would be the first time that the VW Group has sourced the heart of an electric car from its Chinese partners. In addition, Audi wants to work with SAIC to develop a new joint technical platform for future electric models, which is to be launched on the market from 2027/28.
