E-car production at Volkswagen in Zwickau
Talks between the automaker and Exxon are said to be just beginning.

According to a media report, the US oil company Exxon Mobil is in talks with Volkswagen and other car manufacturers about the delivery of lithium. Negotiations are still at an early stage, Bloomberg reported on Monday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the e-car manufacturers Tesla and Ford as well as Samsung should also be involved in the consultations. Tesla, Ford, Volkswagen and Exxon were initially unable to comment.
Exxon announced last month that it would be mining lithium in Arkansas to capitalize on the e-mobility boom.
