Since the UT administration has now exempted Chandigarh registered hybrid vehicles from road tax, the city has witnessed a major jump in the past few years in the registration of the Petrol Hybrid vehicles.

The data of the transport department of the Chandigarh administration has revealed that besides EVs, now the Hybrid vehicles have been consistently emerging as the key choice of the vehicle purchasers in Chandigarh.

As per records of the Chandigarh administration since 2020, the hybrid vehicles registered a major craze among the vehicle purchasers. Significantly, the current year of 2023 has registered a major leap with over 260 Petrol Hybrid vehicles registered every month since January till last month of July. The maximum registration of Petrol Hybrid cars was witnessed in March 2023, with 375 vehicles .

Moreover, records revealed that the registration of Electric Vehicle (EVs) in Chandigarh showed an almost nine times jump from the year of 2020 to 2023 till July.

The record revealed that in the year of 2020, the EVs registration number was 369, which touched the figure of 3338 EVs till July of the current year of 2023.
