Vietnam becomes 3rd SE Asian country to get Apple Pay
Apple Pay officially launched its services in Vietnam on Tuesday, allowing users to make payments on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
Vietnam is the third Southeast Asian nation to support this service, following Malaysia and Singapore, and the move comes shortly after Apple officially launched its online store in the country in May.
Customers will be able to use Apple Pay if they have credit or debit cards from certain banks, including Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, Sacombank, Techcombank, Vietcombank, and VPBank.
Merchants such as Adidas, Annam Gourmet, CellphoneS, and Decathlon, among others, as well as apps and websites including BAEMIN, Be, Mytour and Shopee will offer customers the ability to pay with Apple Pay starting August 8.
Currently, Apple Pay is available in more than 70 countries and regions and works with more than 10,000 banking partners around the world.
Yenwy Wongso named president director at Grow Investments
Indonesian stock trading platform Stockbit and Singapore-based investment firm Fullerton Fund Management launched asset management firm Grow Investments on Wednesday amid a growing appetite for investing in the archipelago.
The new firm will be led by Yenwy Wongso as president director, according to a statement. Wongso has a combined 20 years of investment management experience in Indonesia, Singapore, and the US. He had a stint at Fullerton Fund Management in Singapore before serving at Ashmore Asset Management in Indonesia for more than eight years.
“By leveraging Stockbit’s digital-first approach, deep understanding of the local market, and Fullerton’s award-winning investment capabilities in global markets, Grow Investments will focus on generating positive, long-term risk-adjusted returns to help investors grow their wealth,” Wongso said.
Stockbit and Fullerton Fund Management announced a partnership in May this year through the joint acquisition of a Jakarta-based asset management company PT Ayers Asia Asset Management for an undisclosed amount.
