Asia’s largest helmet manufacturer Steelbird Helmets, basis the revival in the sales of two-wheelers has envisaged an investment of Rs 105 crore as part of its capacity expansion plans. The company which has already invested Rs 150 crore in its Baddi and Nodia facilities, aims to enhance its production target to 10 million helmets during the fiscal year 2023-24 by clocking a daily production of 40,000 helmets daily within the next 18 months.
Steelbird company officials said the helmet industry which is seeing a 13 percent plus growth, is a direct result of the consumer’s increasing awareness of road safety.
Steelbird is India’s only European ECE-certified manufacturer of helmets, a qualification essential for accessing the European market and a key step in the company’s moves towards gaining a foothold in the global helmet market.
Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird sharing production plans, said, “Our aspiration to produce 10 million helmets signifies our unwavering commitment to riders globally.”
Steelbird has recently introduced robotic visor coating facilities and an automated paint shop in its facilities which has the ability to paint 10 shells in just 60 seconds. “This innovative and future-driven approach underscores our dedication to pushing the boundaries of excellence.” Kapur further added.
