The state power distribution utility’s Nashik zone will be setting up five EV charging stations in the district on Mumbai-Agra national highway in addition to the two that are about to be commissioned.
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has completed the installation of two EV charging stations with multiple ports where the motorists can get their electric vehicles charged. “The set-ups at the two sub-stations are ready and will be started soon. There are a few more charging stations to be added on the Nashik-Mumbai stretch of national highway, and a couple more on the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi expressway,” stated DH Padalkar the MSEDCL superintendent engineer.
According to another senior officer, the charging stations have been set up at at Pathardi and Wadivarhe sub-stations where the ports are ready. “They will be made operational soon as all the things are in place except for some issues related to the parking bays,” the officer said.
The MSEDCL also is likely to install at least five EV stations on the stretch towards Mumbai. “There is good demand for the charging points, especially on the highways. The MSEDCL will ensure that vehicle users have access to the services. A survey is being carried out to identify five locations — few of them in Igatpuri and few others even towards Malegaon or Dhule,” the officer said.
The officer pointed out the survey was being carried out for EV charging points on either side of the Samruddhi Expressway between Shirdi and Igatpuri.
