As part of its global strategy, Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest SUV maker by revenues, is exploring the possibility of introducing EVs in the UK and Europe in the coming years. M&M, which is also the country’s largest pick up truck company, is planning to bring in the new global pick up truck in the mid-term.
The new global vision was shared by Veejay Nakra, president of Automotive division at Mahindra & Mahindra at Cape Town in South Africa on Tuesday.
He shared that the company is planning to introduce the pick up truck in the markets of Asean, Australia, India, South Africa, South and Central America in the coming years.
“It is a 2 million units global pick up truck market and we are talking about addressing the multiple needs of commute, lifestyle, off roading and sports with this new mid-size global pick up truck. It is built on key pillars of tough, versatile, truly capable, tech-first features, very high on safety,” added Nakra.
The pick up trucks have been designed for the global audience, R Velusamy – president, Automotive Technology & Product Development and the Chief Of Global Product Development at Mahindra & Mahindra says the global pick up truck has been developed on the new generatin of ladder on frame chassis with a 80% of body based on high strength steel aimed to meet all the global safety standards.
The pick up truck will be powered by M-hawk gen 2 engines with all terrain 4×4 capability, with light and high 4 wheel drive models.
Announcing the new Refresh strategy at the FY-23 annual earnings conference, Anish Shah, MD of Mahindra & Mahindra had shared that even as the company looks to consolidate its leadership in SUV, LCVs and tractors, Mahindra is planning to aggressively pursue global expansion.
The company has set sight on growing automotive global revenue by 2.5 times and tractor business international revenues by 1.6 times, Shah had announced.
