Hyundai Motor India will introduce the second-generation Venue SUV in India in 2025, and it will continue to be a sub-four-metre compact SUV. The new Hyundai Venue will continue to be positioned above the recently launched Exter sub-compact SUV in Hyundai’s India line-up.
The next-gen Venue will take the baton from the first-gen SUV that continues to be a steady seller for the brand and has clocked sales of over 450,000 units since launch in May 2021. Currently sold in as many as 13 variants, the Venue takes on compact SUVs like the Maruti Brezza and Fronx, Tata Nexon (due for a major facelift in September 2023), Kia Sonet and the Mahindra XUV300 (both facelifts planned in CY2024).
The new Venue will also be the first Hyundai model to roll out from the newly acquired Talegaon, Pune plant from where the company plans to produce around 150,000 units a year. The new Hyundai Venue has been internally codenamed Q2Xi, while the first-gen was codenamed QXi, where the ‘i’ stands for India.
Talegaon plant to expand Hyundai capacity to a million units
Manufacturing operations at the Talegaon plant are planned to commence in 2025. At present, the GM India plant has an annual production capacity of 130,000 units. Hyundai Motor India plans to increase manufacturing capacity of the refurbished plant.
Having already increased its production capacity at the Sriperumbudur plants in Chennai by 70,000 units to 820,000 units per annum, the capacity augmentation of the GM India plant will enable Hyundai to produce around a million cars and SUVs a year.
