Horizon Robotics partners with Aptiv and Wind River for autonomous driving development in China.
Horizon Robotics, a leading provider of energy-efficient computing systems for advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles, has entered into a strategic partnership with aptive and its subsidiaries wind river closed in China.
Aptiv is a global technology company with a focus on autonomous driving. Wind River is a software industry company in this space. Aptiv, formerly Delphi, acquired Wind River in 2022.
The collaboration with Horizon Robotics marks Aptiv’s first partnership with a Chinese domestic provider of automotive computing solutions for automated driving. Under the terms of the agreement, Horizon Robotics will work with Aptiv and Wind River to develop fully integrated hardware and software solutions tailored to the needs of civilian automakers in China.
Horizon’s proprietary Journey Series computing solutions are complemented by Wind River’s portfolio, including the real-time operating system (RTOS) VxWorks, the Wind River Helix virtualization platform, Wind River Linux and Wind River Studio to power the next generation of software-defined vehicles (SDV).
VxWorks is a trusted and widely used real-time operating system (RTOS) for vital embedded systems that need to be secure and reliable. It offers a proven, real-time capable and deterministic runtime environment in combination with a modern development approach.
The first offerings to benefit from these integrated solutions are Aptiv’s next-generation smart cameras and centralized multi-domain controllers. As part of Aptiv’s ADAS platform roadmap, these solutions are designed to address the specific needs of the Chinese market while enabling advanced features such as automated driving and parking.
