Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis made the Chinese premiere of its X Speedium Coupe concept vehicle on Friday at the Chengdu motor show, which is running from Aug 25 to Sept 3 in Southwest China’s Sichuan province.

Showcasing the brand’s vision for vehicle design in the era of electrification, the X Speedium Coupe’s exterior follows the principle that “less is more,” featuring restrained elegance, clean lines and subtle curves.

Its hourglass silhouette highlights the car’s passion and character, creating a muscular appearance with a sensuous form accentuating the wheel arches.

On the inside, the concept adopts an asymmetric, driver-oriented layout to allow control systems and displays to surround the driver. A wraparound instrument panel and floating center console amplifies the driving experience.

Genesis also started sales of its flagship G90 sedan and long-wheel version at the motor show, making all Genesis vehicles available to Chinese customers.

The G90 utilizes advanced technology for an immersive and luxurious driving experience. The interior features the brand’s inaugural fragrance system, a mood curator, Ergo Relaxing Seats and one-button electronically controlled suction doors.

Built upon the platform of the G90, the long-wheel base version sees an increase of 190 millimeters in its length. It results in a body measuring 5,465mm long with an extended wheelbase of 3,370mm, making it one of the largest flagship sedans currently available in the market.

In addition, the carmaker announced the launch of its Genesis Value Commitment on Friday, which includes programs for first purchases, trade-ins and certified pre-owned vehicles.

For new electric vehicle buyers, Genesis Flex financing offers a guaranteed buyback after three years at up to 60 percent of the original price, with low monthly payments.

Trade-ins are covered by up to 90 percent of the original purchase price within a year. The certified pre-owned program is expected to be launched in early 2024.

Since its entry to China in April 2021, Genesis has expanded its retail network across the country with 17 Genesis Studios.
