In a new video released by Praga from a recent trip to Praga Racing USA in Atlanta, Mark Harrison (Sales and Marketing Director for Praga Cars), Jan Martinek (Praga Chief Engineer) and Ben Collins (Praga test driver) discuss the global success and appeal of the Praga R1.
The Praga R1 is currently run by race teams all around the world and regularly appears at some of the most iconic circuits; from Silverstone Circuit in the UK, to other European circuits including Spa-Francorchamps and Zolder, to Bathurst in Australia, Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, and Sebring in the US. From 25 min sprint races to a 25 hour endurance race, the R1 has a long history of race-winning performance and is enjoyed by both amateur drivers stepping up from karts and professional racing drivers looking to reach the next level.
Now in its 5th Generation, the R1 is a single-seater race car powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine built by the specialist racing division at Alpine Renault, with bespoke engineered parts by Praga. From the factory, the R1 produces 365 bhp and 302 lb-ft of torque, meant to meet the highest demands of both sprint and endurance racing. The R1’s lightweight design, weighing just 643 kg, combined with its advanced aerodynamic package enables drivers to experience speeds in excess of 175mph* and up to 3G of lateral force in corners. Its extreme performance and beauty coupled with the safety of a proven, full carbon fiber monocoque, from a brand with over 115 years of automotive manufacturing and engineering heritage, sets the R1 apart from everything else in the market.
