In the third and next video filmed during Praga’s visit to Praga Racing USA in Atlanta, Ben Collins takes the Praga R1 for a lap of the challenging Atlanta Motorsports Park main circuit, designed by one of Formula One’s premier architects, Hermann Tilke.
A breathtaking feat of design and engineering, this two-mile circuit is a motorsports masterpiece featuring aggressive elevation changes, a technical circuit layout, high-octane speed straights, and two “signature” corners as a tribute to Europe’s finest and most respected motorsport circuits – Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps and Germany’s Nürburgring. And with Collins as handy in front of the camera as he is behind the wheel, Praga and Praga Racing USA took the opportunity to highlight the R1’s capabilities, as well as give the new R1 owners looking to enjoy the track some guidance on how to get the most from the lightweight, high downforce race car.
Now in its 5th Generation, the R1 is a single-seater race car powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine built by the specialist racing division at Alpine Renault producing 365bhp with bespoke engineered parts by Praga. The R1’s lightweight design weighing just 643kg combined with its advanced aerodynamic package enables drivers to experience up to 3G of lateral force in corners, all within the safety of a proven, full carbon fibre monocoque from a brand with over 115 years of automotive manufacturing and engineering heritage.
