Tourism: green light for Italian Motor Week, showcase of Made in Italy motoring

07.09.2023

The green light is about to go off for Italian Motor Week, an event organized by ‘Città dei Motori’, the Anci network that associates forty ‘Made in Italy’ municipalities in the sector. More than a hundred events organized throughout Italy from Saturday 9 to Sunday 17 September. The calendar is available at www.cittamotori.it And www.italianmotorweek.it.

IMW involves brands in the sector, over twenty museums and private collections open to the public, with the Ferrari museums in Modena and Maranello in the lead; the national racetracks of Monza and Imola, symbolic sites of the history of Italian industry such as the Lingotto, a city where commercial and work vehicles, cars, supercars and world legends such as the Vespa are born.

The program also includes Towns and places that gave birth to legends of sport and industry such as Enzo Ferrari, Tazio Nuvolari, Ferruccio Lamborghini, Achille Varzi or Corradino D’Ascanio. IMW makes use of two important partnerships: that of the Ministry of Tourism and the Automobile Club of Italy, and is sponsored by Enit, numerous Regions and by the Air Force, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary and will open sites to visits by enthusiasts .

Italian Motor Week, in the very rich program, also includes events aimed at the hospitality and food and wine supply chains, with the aim of developing the motor tourism sector, which today is already moving in significant numbers thanks to millions of Italian and foreign enthusiasts and supporters.

“With this event, full of events and initiatives, the Motor Cities are opening up to visitors – says the president Luigi Zironi, mayor of Maranello – so that they can admire all the ‘treasures’ of the immense ‘Made in Italy’ motoring heritage. The Italian Motor Week, the strength of the motor tourism project developed by the Network, aims to become a national and international showcase, with an unprecedented offer of emotional experiences that will promote Municipalities and entire territories. The synergies created with important production companies in the sector have proved to be decisive for the creation of this first edition, which – concludes Zironi – we are sure will make a contribution in terms of economic induced and in terms of the image of Italian excellence in the world”.

“Events such as Italian Motor Week – underlines the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanché – make it possible to turn the spotlight on Italian excellence, such as the automotive and motorcycle sectors, which are constantly growing in terms of value and turnover, as well as capable of generating excellent export levels, demonstrating how much Italian brands in the sector are also appreciated abroad, as a product of the high engineering skills of our industry. And then from the intersection between motors and tourism, interesting reference markets arise, see motorbike tourism, which has an induced activity of 3 billion euros and concerns tourists with high spending power, and, if appropriately systemised, it can represent a strategic lever for the development of small villages, inner areas, and for the enhancement of their socio-economic fabric, as indeed the tourism business plan – concludes the minister – intends to do, by encouraging knowledge of the lesser-known territories, where it resides , among other things, more than 90% of our food and wine excellences”.

“Engines are the engine of life” underlines Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of ACI. “It sounds like a play on words but it’s the truth. We’re not just talking about history, myth, charm, elegance or beauty, which would already be a lot. We also talk about industry, technology, design, scientific research, economic growth and development, travel, tourism, leisure, socializing, sport, culture. You don’t need to be an expert or passionate to realize that, without all of this, in a time like ours, life for all of us would be infinitely more complicated and decidedly less pleasant. Therefore, dedicating an entire week like Italian Motor Week to the motor universe means making known, understood and appreciated what it does for all of us and how it is fundamental that we all commit ourselves to reciprocating it, building together an increasingly more efficient, safe, clean, which is, at the same time, fruit and seed of beauty”.
