The EV Network & BP launch UK’s largest EV charging hub

bp pulse, The EV Network, and NEC Group have launched Gigahub – the UK’s largest public EV charging hub – on the NEC Campus in Birmingham, a city in the West Midlands.

The Gigahub will serve EV drivers visiting the city’s NEC Campus, alongside other road users, and provide enough space to charge up to 180 EVs simultaneously. The hub offers 16 ultra-fast 300 kW DC charging stations, two of which have been designated as accessible bays for disabled drivers, that can charge up to 30 EVs simultaneously. The site also has a further 150 charging points for 7-kW AC charging, intended for longer stays, including further accessible charging bays. Within the hub is a new Starbucks Coffee drive-thru, which customers can access before or after their charging session.

bp pulse said that it worked closely with EV Network to ensure that the Gigahub provides a positive customer experience and confirmed that it will be responsible for operating the new hub. For bp pulse, the Gigahub represents one of many hubs it is planning to roll out across urban areas, trunk roads, motorways, and leisure destinations (including restaurants, retail parks and hotels) before the end of the decade.
