Bursa Malaysia, Cradle Fund partner to spur local listings

Bursa Malaysia and Cradle Fund, a startup facilitator under the country’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), have signed a memorandum of collaboration (MoC) to jointly boost local listings.

In a statement last week, the ministry said that a key aim of the MoC is to build awareness among startups on funding opportunities in Malaysia, including those coming from the equity market.

Cradle has also agreed to provide market intelligence to Bursa Malaysia so that potential listing candidates can be identified earlier, while the bourse is set to analyse the shared data and help organise programmes that shed light on funding access.

The initiative is part of MOSTI’s Fund Funnel programme, which aims to streamline funding options and offer comprehensive support to startups throughout their funding journey.

Cradle was created in 2003 under Malaysia’s ministry of finance, but the administration of the organisation was later moved over to MOSTI. Cradle provides grants and equity investments, and according to its website, has helped fund over 1,000 startups in Malaysia.
