China’s Hongqi to feature Mobileye’s solutions from 2024

Chinese carmaker FAW Group has partnered with Mobileye to create tailor-made driving-assist functions for its models, starting with those bearing the Hongqi marque from late 2024.

Mobileye, a Nasdaq-listed autonomous driving solutions provider, has seen its technology adopted in more than 150 million vehicles worldwide.

In a joint statement on Thursday, the two companies said they will start working together on the solutions for FAW’s Hongqi models, with the Mobileye SuperVision project expected to be deployed by the end of 2024.

The Mobileye Chauffeur project, which offers “hands-off and eyes-off” functions, is targeted for launch by the end of 2025, the said.

Other brands of FAW Group are in line to gradually follow, using Mobileye’s solutions. In addition, the two companies will conduct comprehensive discussions on feasible plans to further deepen their cooperation.

“The target of the cooperation between FAW Group and Mobileye, both leaders in their respective fields, is to provide cutting-edge ADAS and autonomous vehicle solutions in the Chinese market,” said Qiu Xiandong, chairman of FAW.

Amnon Shashua, president and CEO of Mobileye, said “Between the scale and expertise FAW has built over the past seven decades and our world-class technology, this alliance could shape the future of autonomous driving in the region and beyond.”

The two companies said more details about the projects will be released in the months ahead.
