40 years of the Peugeot 205: more than 200 cars on display on the Stellantis site in Vesoul

It’s been 10 years since this happened, the Stellantis site in Vesoul, which manufactures spare parts for the group’s vehicles, opened its doors to the general public. A great opportunity to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 205.

After the 306, it’s the turn of the 205 to blow out its candles. For the occasion, more than 200 cars arrived with great fanfare to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the famous Peugeot. And the party takes place, not without coincidence, in the parking lot of the Stellantis site, in Vesoul.

“The Vesoul site is a key to the Stellantis organization, since it is one of the three sites that manufacture and distribute spare parts,” underlines Mathieu Hurth, director of the Vesoul site. For the occasion, Stellantis, which manufactures spare parts for the group’s vehicles, opened its doors to the general public. Ten years since this had happened.

Rame, Dodge, Peugeot, Fiat, Citroën, Peugeot… all the brands are united on September 30.

Among the 200 cars and their owner present on site, Daniel Baumont, better known as Lucifer. Alongside his red 205 Terbeg van, covered with stickers, he is very proud. “I fixed it up in 2004 with my son, like a grown-up. Because at the time, there were no tutorials,” he smiles. “Being an electrician and electromechanic, I got by.” Everything is done to be completely autonomous on the rallies: water reserve, toilet seats… Nothing is left to chance. Besides, Lucifer is ready to start the 205 Africa Raid Marocco, mid-October.

As one event hides another, this Saturday also marks the start of this rally which will take place in the Moroccan desert. “I thank Stellantis, we are having an incredible event. It’s the start of the 205 Africa hike, with quite a few 205 registered, but also legendary and prestigious cars. They will cover 113 km this afternoon, on the Saône lands, within our beautiful department. They will arrive this evening at the adventure farm, in the Vosges”, explains Fanny Jacquot, co-organizer of the 205 Africa Raid. All this, before the pre-departure of the 205 Africa Raid, Sunday October 1.

This event is the ideal opportunity for Anthony Thily to share his passion for the 205 with his son, by exhibiting his vehicle. But for this employee with Stellantis for more than 20 years, it is also the opportunity to show him his work, thanks to this open day. “We took advantage of this day to show the children what we do on the site.”

And when you walk through the aisles of cars, you may even come across the site director. A great enthusiast himself for over 10 years, he came with his 205 which he takes care of with care. “It’s the car of my youth. I was born the same year as the first ones which were built in Mulhouse. It’s a car of the heart and it remains the emblematic car of the Peugeot brand,” explains Mathieu Hurth.

This “indestructible” car, as enthusiasts like to say, still has a bright future ahead of it.
