Kia is participating in Seoul ADEX (Aerospace & Defense Exhibition) 2023, Korea’s largest aerospace and defence industry exhibition, which is being held from October 17-22 at Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is hosting over 550 companies from 34 countries.
Kia’s exhibits include an EV9 military concept car, hydrogen fuel cell military drone concept and a medium-sized chassis.
The EV9 Military Concept Car is a vehicle that reinterprets Kia’s flagship electric SUV EV9 for military transportation purposes. It is equipped with a V2L (vehicle-to-load) function that enables smooth power supply even in battlefield situations based on a body with high crash stability.
The ‘medium chassis’ is a vehicle platform that can be used in a variety of ways depending on the military’s purpose of use, and can be manufactured not only for the military but also for civilian purposes such as police cars and ambulances, which is Kia’s Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV) vision.
The Hydrogen Fuel Cell Military Drone Concept is an unmanned drone capable of performing various missions such as military support, reconnaissance, and surveillance. It is currently being developed with the goal of excellent high-speed cruising by utilizing hydrogen fuel cells and a lightweight airframe that integrates Hyundai Motor Group’s technology. In addition, it is characterised by safe operation in any environment by applying the lift-and-cruise method, which is a method of installing a propeller for vertical take-off and landing and a propeller for high-speed cruising on the aircraft.
