Commemorating Sardar Patel’s Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today flagged off 30 electric buses at the ‘Statue of Unity’ in order to boost the green mobility initiatives. These 12 meter AC electric buses are manufactured by JBM Auto, and will replace the current diesel buses, offering tourists a noise and pollution free experience.
As part of the larger green initiative, the Prime Minister also inaugurated a public bike-sharing programme, the distribution of city gas facilitated by Gujarat Gas Limited, as well as the provision of golf carts to streamline transportation for tourists visiting ‘Statue of Unity’.
Speaking on the occasion, Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman, JBM Group said, “This is a great step in ensuring clean environment around the world’s tallest statue and also help the larger agenda of achieving NetZero by the year 2070.”
“In order to help country adopt electric buses faster, we recently set-up India’s largest bus manufacturing facility with a capacity of 20,000 buses per annum. We have brought technological innovations and have now extended our ‘Make in India’ initiative to go global thus offering our product range to global markets,” he added.
Over 100 JBM electric buses are currently running in the state of Gujarat across BRTS in Ahmedabad, Gift City and Airport. The company has an order book of over 5000 electric buses deployed and under execution across various applications and geographies across the globe.
