Taiwan battery maker to build $800m plant in Canada

TAIPEI — Taiwanese battery maker E-One Moli Energy will invest 25.5 billion New Taiwan dollars ($796 million) to build a plant in western Canada that makes lithium cells, the company announced here Wednesday.

The Canadian government will contribute NT$4.8 billion through a fund toward the construction of the plant, which will produce ternary-type lithium battery cells that are expected to be used in electrified vehicles.
