The ADAC and TÜV SÜD want to jointly take over the homologation (approval testing) and form a one-stop agency.
ADAC and MOT South have decided to pool their expertise in the area of homologation, i.e. testing the eligibility of new vehicle types in accordance with international regulations. The common goal is to offer all services related to homologation from a single source. For this purpose, the ADAC makes its test center in Penzing in Bavaria available, which has an impressive 2,200 meter long straight and a multifunctional area of 100,000 square meters.
TÜV SÜD is placing a branch directly on the test center to offer its expertise in the areas of testing, regulations, standards, approval processes and homologation for global markets. The strategically located location near Landsberg am Lech will therefore also be an integral part of the TÜV SÜD test cluster for southern Germany.
Together they want everything that arises Testing in the automotive sector and that explicitly also implies autonomous driving and its derivatives. This should also apply to other approval areas worldwide. This is called “type approval with consumer protection”. The testing site offers all the necessary testing options.
The necessary tests for type approval are carried out directly on the test site. Thanks to the combined expertise and resources of ADAC and TÜV SÜD, this process is particularly efficient. Smooth processing of processes can only be guaranteed if not only the approval itself, but also the entire life cycle of the vehicle is taken into account in the early development phase of a vehicle model.
