Blink Charging’s EQ 200 Level 2 EV charger, which the company just launched in the UK and Ireland, is one of a new generation of V2G-capable bidirectional chargers. It’s designed to “enable the switch from static EV charging to more dynamic and sustainable energy management as grid technology develops.”
The EQ 200’s smart features include Bluetooth, WiFi, Ethernet, and 2G and 4G connectivity, allowing the charger to interact with a range of load-balancing and intelligent energy management systems, and enabling vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) capabilities as new systems emerge.
The EQ 200 charger’s compact design makes it suitable for workplace and parking operators as well as residential users. It offers up to 22 kW of power output, and is ISO15118- and MID-certified. The EQ 200 uses Open Charge Point Protocol software, which is designed to eliminate the need to upgrade hardware as charging technology advances. It’s available with either Type 2 sockets or an optional 7-meter tethered cable, and is offered with accessories for wall, post or back-to-back mounting.
“The launch of our grid-ready EQ 200 charger into the UK and Irish markets is an important moment for EV charging,” said Alex Calnan, Managing Director, Blink Charging UK. “Facilities including car parks, depots and offices now have the option of an advanced solution capable of interacting with smart energy systems.”
Blink UK currently has over 2,000 chargers in the UK and Ireland. Customers include local authorities, NHS healthcare trusts, universities and fleets.
