Bengaluru-based startup Simple Energy has announced that it will be launching a new electric scooter called the Dot One on December 15. The company claims that the Dot One will be priced under Rs 1 lakh, which puts it in the crosshairs of the Ola S1 X.
This will essentially be the One e-scooter sans the removable battery pack, which entails a battery capacity of 3.7kWh and a claimed IDC range of 160km. While output figures are under wraps, the Dot One could use a slightly less powerful motor than the One’s unit that’s rated for a claimed 8.5kW and 72Nm.
Not too much is known about the Simple Dot One, but it is unlikely to differ too much visually compared to the One. As per the company, it will have ‘over 30 litres’ of storage, although the exact figure hasn’t been mentioned.
Simple says that the Dot One will employ a touchscreen TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity and this could be the same unit as the One, as both scooters share the same platform as per the company.
At the claimed sub-Rs 1 lakh price, the Dot One doesn’t have many rivals purely in terms of price, except for the Ola S1 X.
In its literature, Simple has used both launch and debut, which leaves things a little unclear. We will report back regarding this on December 15, which is when the Dot One will break cover. Currently, Simple has delivered just 40 One electric scooters pan-India since its launch in May 2023.
