New Delhi: Chargeup, a company building a data and technology-driven, driver-centric platform to electrify last-mile mobility in the country, Tuesday announced the elevation of Satish Mittal as co-founder. Mittal, formerly the Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone and a senior leader at Meta, brings a wealth of experience to his new position after initially joining Chargeup as the Chief Digital Officer earlier this year, overseeing tech, data, and partnerships initiatives.
Mittal thinks, EV industry today is where Telecom was 30 years back. In the 90s, envisioning the future trajectory of the telecom industry posed a challenge; however, it has now become a tangible reality, transitioning from imagination to reality. The EV industry currently stands at a similar juncture, showcasing comparable growth potential. As a promising sunshine segment, EVs contribute not only economically but also positively to communities, climate, and sustainability. Worth 50% of an EV’s cost attributed to the battery, technology plays a crucial role in its efficient management and is essential to the EV business.
This is where Chargeup is at the forefront of revolutionizing last-mile mobility with its data and technology-driven platform. The company’s mission is to empower a million drivers with better earnings and financial security, creating a community of driver entrepreneurs. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, Chargeup aims to transform the EV industry and bring drivers from the offstream to the mainstream of business, the company said.
“Chargeup’s vision and mission to empower drivers align with my belief in the transformative power of technology for societal betterment. I truly believe that building tech for the growing EV community could be the next UPI moment for the country, similar to how it transformed small roadside businesses by integrating with technology. My aim is to enable digital empowerment and neighbourhood physical support to build trust among drivers, develop an on-the-go business ecosystem for stakeholders, and lead Chargeup towards becoming a mobile first organization,” Mittal said.
Varun Goenka, Founder and CEO, Chargeup, said, “The Indian e-mobility sector is at a crucial juncture where it is extremely important to provide the right ecosystem to EV drivers especially in the shared mobility segment. This is where Chargeup is focusing on building meaningful collaboration and Satish’s extensive expertise in the mobility-tech domain is going to be a great capacity boost for the company. I look forward to his invaluable contributions and leading various accelerated growth initiatives for Chargeup.”
Mittal, a key figure in automotive disruptions, pioneered the IoT platform for the first EV car in the industry and collaborated on the inaugural connected car in 2016. His mission is to make EV technology user-friendly, and empower drivers, dealers, and employees alike. He aims to leverage AI/ML, predictive analysis, and maintenance to enhance battery health leading to better efficiency, 100% uptime, and higher driver earnings. By humanising the tech at Chargeup, Satish envisions bringing EV drivers into the business forefront, fostering ownership, recognition, and increased earnings. Satish strongly believes that with 3 million EV drivers and a 60% YoY growth rate currently, developing tailored technology for this community could be the next transformative moment, making sustainable transportation solutions a reality.
Mittal is an industry veteran with over 3 decades of experience in building cutting-edge technologies and forging partnerships. He is a BTech (Hons) graduate from REC, Kurukshetra, and has an Executive MBA degree from the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR). He has done his doctoral study in Customer Experience Management in Digital Era. As an industry expert, he has been on the Board of Studies for SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) wherein he shares his know-how as an industry expert with future entrepreneurs and business leaders, the company said in a media release.
