Malaysia-based agritech startup Qarbotech has raised a $700k seed round led by 500 Global, while Box Vietnam has raised fresh funding led by TheVentures and angel investors.
Qarbotech snags $700k seed funding, grants led by 500 Global
Qarbotech announced on Monday that it has raised $700,000 in seed funding and grants, in a round led by venture capital firm 500 Global.
According to a statement, the round included innovation grants that the company received from the Temasek Foundation for winning the Climate Impact Innovations Challenge 2023 and from Khazanah Nasional’s Dana Impak for winning the Khazanah Impact Innovation Challenge (KIIC) 2023.
Qarbotech said its patented photosynthesis enhancement nanotechnology boosts agricultural productivity, increasing crop yields by up to 60%.
Qarbotech was co-founded by its current CEO Chor Chee Hoe and chief scientist Suraya Abdul Rashid in 2018.
Box Vietnam secures fresh funding led by TheVentures
Box Vietnam, a social gaming and live entertainment platform, has raised fresh funding led by TheVentures and angel investors, according to an announcement.
The investment was made through TheVentures’s recently established ‘ASIA ADVANCE FUND 1’, which was founded primarily to fund Vietnamese startups. Thus far, TheVentures has invested in 15 Vietnamese startups.
Box Vietnam’s ecosystem includes Box Studio, Box Sports, and GGLive. Box Studio is a multi-channel network (MCN), boasting a network of over 500 influencers, top-tier gaming streamers, and seasoned esports commentators.
The latest funds will be directed towards fortifying the platform’s tech capabilities, forging strategic partnerships with an expanded network of creators and further enhancing the overall user experience within the Box ecosystem.
Earlier, Box Vietnam raised funds from local VC firm Do Ventures.
