LG is extending its partnership with Netflix by integrating the entertainment company’s experience into webOS for Automotive, its automotive content platform. The announcement is the latest step in a broader partnership between the companies, which initially began in 2011 and focused on LG’s television business.
Through its in-vehicle Netflix app, webOS for Automotive will provide a similar streaming performance and quality as seen on LG’s smart televisions. The advanced, integrated content platform is designed to enhance the on-road experience and transform the vehicle into an extension of the customer’s living space.
LG’s broader strategy around webOS for Automotive is focused on the continuous enrichment and growth of its in-vehicle entertainment line-up. Here, the tech company is aiming to provide a variety of entertainment service apps, with extensive content options covering sports, music, kids content, education, news, and games.
The rollout of the Netflix app on LG webOS for Automotive recently began in South Korea, where it is available in newly updated models from Genesis, the Hyundai Motor Company’s luxury vehicle division.
