Dr Lankapalli Bullayya College of Engineering and TVS Training and Services entered into a memorandum of understanding to set up a Centre of Excellence for electric vehicles.

The Centre will be made operational in the next one month.

Speaking at the MoU signing event, college principal Prof D Deepak Chowdary said that as per the Niti Aayog’s report, 30% of the personal car and 70% of the commercial car sales by 2030 come from the electric vehicle segment.

“Nearly 80% of the two-wheeler sales by 2030 may belong to EV. At this juncture, a CoE in EV will definitely go a long way in equipping the students with needed skill sets and providing the country the required workforce,” said Prof Chowdary. This is the first such centre coming up in Andhra Pradesh.

Secretary and correspondent of Dr LB Colleges Dr G. Madhu Kumar said that practical skills are the need of the hour. “The Centre will impart requisite theoretical and technical knowledge in the EV segment. Students from other engineering colleges are also encouraged to join to learn the latest developments in the EV segment,” said Dr Madhu Kumar.

TVS training and services CEO G Narayanamurthy said that the training in the Center of Excellence will be imparted by expert trainers from TVS TS.

“The centre, which is open to students of other colleges, will provide the aspiring innovators with ready access to core EV technology and drive the benefits of standardisation. It will also provide training in allied components like EV battery systems, control systems, performance measurement, troubleshooting, benchmarking, etc. The CoE will make the students future ready. We are also committed to bring a few organisations to recruit the trained students at CoE,”said Narayanamurthy to TOI.
