Chevy owners can pay their petrol at Shell gas stations soon out of the car. This is made possible by an initial trial cooperation with Shell. The driver can pay via the vehicle’s infotainment screen via General Motors Marketplace.

Owners of selected Chevy models can drive to any Shell station, select the fuel payment icon on their dashboard and start refueling. A smartphone is not necessary, says the automaker. Nevertheless, the process is complicated.
Users must enter the pump number they parked on and select their credit card stored in the car. Then they have to enter a pin number, which they get from Shell when they join the pay-and-save program of the company. The pin is required for the transaction. The customer then receives an authorization code. Before refueling, this must be entered at the pump.
The operation is planned for 2017 and 2018 models only. The pilot will take place at Shell stations in Detroit, Seattle and Houston, and after the nationwide rollout, the service will be available at over 14,000 shell stations.
Jaguar introduced in early 2018 also a new payment functionthat allows the car driver to pay by gas or paypal via Paypal. Instead of shaking a credit card at the gas pump or in the ticket booth, the Jaguar owner can use the Shell app to enter, via the screen of the vehicle, how much gasoline he wants to buy. Payment works on Apple Pay, said Jaguar, without going into detail. A connection to Android Pay is expected in 2017.
The payment function with the Shell app is possible with the models Jaguar F-Pace, XE and XF. The new Land Rover models should also support the function. However, the group did not name any specific vehicles. After the payment process, the customer receives a confirmation on the screen and the receipt by e-mail.
