Tata Power, a leading integrated power company in India, has announced the addition of acclaimed mountaineer Baljeet Kaur to its renewables business as a sustainability champion. This strategic move aligns with Tata Power’s dedication to supporting young talent in unconventional fields and fostering a commitment to environmental responsibility.
In the challenging realm of mountaineering, 27-year-old Baljeet Kaur has distinguished herself with exceptional achievements. In 2023, she received the prestigious Gold Medal for Excellent Performance in Mountaineering from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation. Notably, Baljeet is the first Indian woman to conquer peaks exceeding 8,000 meters, including Mount Everest, Mount Lhotse, and Mount Manaslu without oxygen—an outstanding display of courage, determination, and resilience.
Hailing from the hills of Himachal Pradesh, Baljeet, who considers the mountains her “first love,” brings a profound understanding of nature and sustainable living. As Tata Power’s sustainability champion, she will actively contribute to the ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement, advocating for clean energy solutions and encouraging a sustainable lifestyle.
