In the fast-paced world of gig delivery services, Borzo latest insights provide a glimpse into the top choices of delivery riders, showcasing a blend of petrol and electric two-wheelers that power the booming gig economy.
The landscape of gig delivery is witnessing a transformation fueled by technology and mobility. According to Borzo, Hero, Honda, and TVS stand out as the go-to brands for petrol-powered bikes, capturing the preferences of delivery partners. In the electric vehicle (EV) segment, TVS, Yulu, and Ather have emerged as the top choices, reflecting a shift towards sustainable mobility.
The report highlights that among gig delivery riders, Hero Splendor, Honda Activa, Suzuki Access, Hero Passion, and TVS Jupiter are the top five 2-wheeler models. Hero, Honda, and TVS secure the top three positions as the most popular bike and scooter brands, with Bajaj and Suzuki following closely.
The gig economy’s evolution, driven by E-commerce, Food, and Logistics players, has expanded the options available for delivery personnel. Borzo’s data, gathered from over 50,000 delivery partners, indicates a significant shift in rider autonomy and the necessity of a reliable two-wheeler, be it petrol or electric.
In the electric bike segment, TVS holds a commanding 41.6% share, followed by Yulu at 32% and Ather at 10.5%. Ola and Gogoro contribute 12% and 3.9%, respectively, emphasising a dynamic move towards sustainable transportation solutions.
An intriguing observation is that all popular bikes among gig delivery riders feature engines ranging from 100-125 CC, with a few models sporting 150 CC engines. This aligns with the practical demands of swift urban deliveries.
More than 50% of gig delivery riders operate on bikes and scooters manufactured after 2020, signaling a preference for newer models. Older models from the pre-2010 era make up only 4.6% of the fleet, while bikes manufactured between 2015-2020 account for 32.5%.
