EV Connect has expanded its partnership with GM to make the Plug and Charge standard available on its charging network to GM customers.
Through it, drivers of vehicles in GM’s brand portfolio (including Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC) will now be able to plug in and charge their EVs on the EV Connect network without the need to swipe a payment card, or scan an RFID tag, at nearly 200 compatible DC fast chargers across the US. More Plug and Charge-compatible charging stations are expected to be added on a regular basis for GM drivers over the course of 2024.
GM drivers can enable Plug and Charge by opting in through a one-time enrollment on their vehicle brand’s app. Compatible stations can then be identified through a search filter found within the apps, allowing drivers to find and use charging stations more quickly. The standard helps simplify public EV charging by offering a faster experience that reduces the time spent initiating charging sessions and avoids scanning, swiping, or inputting billing information.
EV Connect is a preferred GM charge station operator, providing the corporation’s dealerships across North America with EV charging management solutions. The operator is also a part of GM’s own public charging ecosystem, enabling its EV customers to access EV Connect’s public chargers on the go.
