Giving an impetus to the promotion of Green transport in the city, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation will set up 150 charging points for electric vehicles by 2025, municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari has said.
Addressing a workshop on ‘City EV Accelerator’ on Saturday, he said, “There is a need to promote eco-friendly electric vehicles to create a cleaner environment and reduce air pollution caused by rising vehicular emissions.” The setting up of these charging points is in line with the Central government policy to give preference to 100% environment-friendly vehicles for public transport, he said.
Chaudhari told TOI that the civic body has started the process to identify places for setting up these charging points and create the infrastructure through public private partnership by inviting bids from private players. “We would provide space, while the entrusted firms would set up the charging stations for e-vehicles,” he added.
