In what could be a big booster for daily commuters in the National Capital Region in Western UP, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), is reportedly planning to extend the Namo Bharat train or popularly known as Rapid Rail from Meerut to Muzaffarnagar and subsequently to Haridwar, which will reduce the journey from Delhi to Haridwar to just two hours.
The proposed extension to Muzaffarnagar and Haridwar could be a big blessing for lakhs of people who travel between these destinations. If the project proceeds as planned, the journey from Delhi to Haridwar could be accomplished in just two hours, significantly cutting down travel time and enhancing connectivity in the region.
As per reports, during a recent meeting of the NCR Planning boards, detailed discussions took place regarding these extensions. It was unanimously agreed to conduct a thorough physical survey to assess the feasibility and execution of the projects. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be formulated, taking into account various factors such as the anticipated social impact, the pace of development, and the number of beneficiaries.
It is worth noting that the RRTS, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India’s first, has already marked its presence with the launch of the Namo Bharat rapid transit train capable of reaching speeds up to 180 kmph. The initial 17-km priority section between Sahibabad and the Duhai Depot of the 82-km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is operational. The next segment, a 25-km stretch between Duhai and Meerut South station, is expected to be operational soon.
As these projects unfold, they hold the promise of transforming the region’s transportation landscape, making it more efficient and accessible for the benefit of the public. The forthcoming surveys and detailed reports will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of these extensions, ushering in a new era of connectivity and convenience for the residents of the National Capital Region.
In another development, a replica of the Namo Bharat train from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation is set to feature on Uttar Pradesh’s tableau during the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. The tableau, designed under the theme of rich heritage, will showcase the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) train originating from Sahibabad station. This tableau is expected to be a highlight of the parade, emphasizing the state’s commitment to progress and innovation.
