Industrial areas of Ujjain have seen a spike in investment proposals with many small and medium sized industries taking up land parcels in the district, said Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC).
MPIDC claims to have received investment proposals of around INR 3,000 crore in Ujjain district from industries in less than a year. Major industrial areas of Ujjain Vikam Udyogpuri and Medical Devices Park have also received fresh investment proposals.
According to MPIDC, around 10 industries have proposed investment in the Medical Devices Park and 46 in Vikram Udyogpuri. Of these, five industries have become operational in Vikram Udyogpuri while others are under construction. Three industries have started construction in the Medical Devices Park.
Rajesh Rathod, executive director, MPIDC, Indore said, “Industries are growing in Ujjain and many more are likely to come ahead. We have received an investment of around INR 3,000 crore in Ujjain in less than a year. Vikram Uyogpuri has received some fresh investment proposals and we are also in talks for the Medical Devices Park.”
Some of the industries that have proposed investment in Vikram Udyogpuri are PepsiCo India, Amul, Ashirvad Pipes, Symbiotic Life, Karnataka Antibiotics, Yashoda Linen and Srinivas Pharma.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had virtually inaugurated the Vikram Udyogpuri industrial area on October 2, 2023.The industrial area has come up on approximately 1,133 acres and is divided into industrial land 417.28 acre, commercial land 17.27 acre, public semi-public land- 25.24 acre and residential land 103 acre.
MPIDC also held a meeting with around 50 industrialists of Vikram Udyogpuri this week to get their feedback and understand challenges and grievances faced by industries.
Rathod said, “We held a meeting with industries to understand their needs and challenges. We also urged industries to expedite construction of industries and get operational. Looking at the interest of industries and investment proposals, we may have to expand the industrial land bank in the district.”
