Toyota and Hino halt some production over engine scandal

TOKYO — Toyota Motor and Hino Motors have halted some production lines after their group company Toyota Industries admitted to cheating on engine certification, affecting not only the vehicle that uses the engines in question but also other models such as the Alphard minivan.

Toyota suspended six lines at four domestic assembly plants from Monday while Hino stopped the second line at its Hamura plant in Tokyo.
