Singtel, NVIDIA to build AI-driven data centres in SE Asia

Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) has partnered with NVIDIA to build AI-driven energy-efficient data centres across Southeast Asia. Singtel’s first AI services will spin up in Singapore, with future data centres under construction in Indonesia and Thailand, as per a release.

The data centres will process the private datasets of companies, startups, universities, and governments safely onshore to produce insights. The company recently launched a new data centre brand named Nxera.

Singtel will also be an NVIDIA cloud partner, delivering AI services on the NVIDIA platform. The company will offer its customers NVIDIA AI Enterprise, a software platform for building and deploying AI applications, including generative AI.

Singtel signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) collaborating with NVIDIA to make AI adoption more accessible in Singapore and across the region and partnering with Gulf Energy, Medco Power, Sembcorp, and TNB Renewables.

GoPay adds new savings feature to app

GoPay, a digital wallet launched by GoTo Financial and Bank Jago last year, has added a new savings feature to its GoPay Tabungan by Jago app. Bank Jago is a domestic lender in which GoTo holds a 21.4% stake.

According to an announcement on Wednesday, the savings feature allows customers to save amounts starting as low as 1 rupiah, offers interest rates of 3.75% per annum on the balance, and no monthly administration fee. The savings are also guaranteed by Indonesia’s Financial Service Authority (OJK), Bank Indonesia, and Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).

The GoPay Tabungan by Bank Jago service launched last October allows GoPay users to transfer their e-wallet balance to their Bank Jago accounts.

GoPay, which began in 2016 as an app to ease payment transactions between drivers and passengers of Indonesian ride-hailing app Gojek, is fast evolving into a provider of more comprehensive financial services.
