Toyota Kirloskar Motor sells 23,197 units in January, up 81%

Toyota Kirloskar Motor maintained its strong domestic market sales in January 2024. Its wholesales of 23,197 units last month are an increase of 81% year on year (January 2023: 12,834 units) and the best monthly performance in the fiscal year to date. 

Combined with exports of 1,412 Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUVs, January 2024 – 24,609 units – has turned out to be the car and SUV manufacturer’s highest ever monthly wholesales yet. A compilation of the cumulative wholesales of the first 10 months of the ongoing fiscal year shows that TKM has clocked wholesales of 196,521 units, up 41% YoY (April 2022-March 2023: 139,475 units). TKM has already surpassed its FY2023 sales of 173,245 units and, with two months left for FY2024 to end, it could wrap up this fiscal at around 225,000-odd units.

TKM’s wholesales of 23,197 units, up 81% YoY, are its best monthly numbers in the first 10 months of FY2024. 

In CY2023, TKM registered its best-ever annual sales – 221,356 units – as a result of sustained demand for its MPVs and SUVs as also the rebadged models like the Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Rumion, ramped-up production and customer-friendly initiatives.

Commenting on the January 2024 sales, Sabari Manohar – Vice-President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “The company’s MPV and SUV offerings continue to be our greatest strength with major contributions from the Innova Hycross, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and the Legender. Other offerings such as the Camry Hybrid, Glanza, Hilux, Vellfire and the Rumion too have fuelled our growth story.”

Range of electrified vehicle technologies showcased at Bharat Mobility Expo

Toyota Kirloskar Motor is among the automakers participating at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo which opened today at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The company is showcasing a full range of electrified vehicle technologies including battery EVs, strong hybrid EVs, fuel cell vehicles, flex fuel vehicle, all having common powertrain parts.

The display at the pavilion is centered around the theme ‘Grow India – Grow with India’, underscoring TKM’s commitment to Atmarnirbhar Bharat, energy security and carbon neutrality through a ‘multiple pathway approach’ for sustainable future.  

The company’s exhibits include the following:

Innova HyCross – A strong hybrid electric cutaway showcasing common electric powertrain parts and the efforts made by TKM to make these in India.

Mirai Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle – this zero-emission sedan which runs on hydrogen and emits only water demonstrates Toyota’s commitment to the environment, utilizing hydrogen as an energy source, and setting the standard for next-generation, eco-conscious vehicles, promising a cleaner and greener world for future generations.

HyCross Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle – the world’s first Prototype of BS 6 (Stage II) Electrified Flex Fuel Vehicle. This technology brings together the best of higher fuel efficiency of electrified powertrain and the higher substitution of gasoline by ethanol through the flex fuel engine thereby delivering the lowest carbon emission on a well-to-wheel basis for any technology. It promises the potential of delivering a rapid, smooth energy transition away from fossil fuel consumption and boost the rural economy through ingenious green fuel.
