Tata Motors sees 69% EV growth year-on-year in January 2024

Tata Motors’ Electric Vehicle (EV) category witnessed a growth of 69% compared to January 2023, reaching a total of 6,979 units.

The Passenger Vehicles (PV) segment showcased robust growth, with a total of 54,033 units sold in January 2024, marking a 12% increase year-on-year.

The Mumbai-based auto manufacturer has shared its sales figures for January 2024 and has announced total sales of 86,125 units, marking an increase compared to the 81,069 units sold in January 2023.

In the domestic market, Tata Motors reported a total of 84,276 units sold in January 2024, representing a 6% year-on-year growth. Within the Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment, the company experienced mixed results. While Heavy Commercial Vehicles (HCV) trucks witnessed a decline of 11%, with 8,906 units sold compared to 9,994 in January 2023, Passenger Carriers surged by 36%, reaching 3,872 units from 2,851 in the same period last year. Small Commercial Vehicles (SCV) cargo and pickup saw a marginal decline of 7%, totalling 13,122 units.

Despite the dip in certain CV categories, Tata Motors’ overall CV sales stood at 32,092 units, showing a slight decrease of 2% compared to January 2023. The Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles (MH&ICV) segment reported a total of 14,440 units sold in the domestic market, while the combined sales, including both domestic and international markets, reached 14,972 units.
