igus introduces industry-first UL-listed motor cable for cable tray and energy chains

igus has launched the world’s first motor cable designed for energy chains and cable trays with UL approval, offering a four-year functional guarantee. The CF33.UL motor cable allows seamless cable laying from the energy chain to the cable tray without requiring a plug connection in between. This innovation also introduces a shielded PVC motor cable to the chainflex range.

igus addresses the critical role of cables in various applications, ensuring they withstand challenges such as heat, cold, high dynamics, UV radiation, and flames. The new CF33.UL motor cable is specifically developed for energy chains and cable trays, distinguishing itself with UL listing (“Flexible Motor Supply Cable according to UL 2277”). Notably, UL-listed cables are typically intended for fixed installation or occasional movement, making this motor cable a unique solution for continuously moving energy chain applications.

Rainer Rossel, Vice President and Head of the chainflex Cables Business Unit at igus, highlights the cable’s versatility, stating, “With the new motor cable, we are offering our customers a cable type that is suitable for both chains and cable trays. A plug connection is no longer necessary, and users also avoid duplicated stock of cables for the chain and fixed installation.”

igus stands behind the reliability of the CF33.UL motor cable by providing a service life guarantee. The cable undergoes rigorous testing in igus’ 3,800-square-meter laboratory, and with 30 years of experience in moving cables, the company extends the guarantee for the new motor cable to four years or ten million double strokes.

This commitment to quality and durability is part of igus’ broader efforts to enhance sustainability, allowing customers to make informed decisions about cable durability through online tools like the chainflex service life calculator.

This innovative motor cable not only meets the demanding requirements of various applications but also contributes to reducing the environmental impact associated with premature cable replacements. igus continues to lead in providing reliable and sustainable solutions for cable management in industrial settings.
