Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund (INA) and Manulife Investment Management have announced a strategic partnership while East Ventures and The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) have launched a free web-based global greenhouse gas (GHG) calculator.
INA ties up with Manulife IM to tap real estate investment opportunities
Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund (INA) and Manulife Investment Management have announced a strategic partnership to explore investment opportunities in the real estate and natural capital sectors.
According to an announcement on Tuesday, the partnership aims to invest proprietary capital and collectively raise capital from third-party domestic and global investors. The partners will also pursue investment opportunities in various logistics assets in Indonesia and are set to explore additional joint investments through a fund structure.

Our plan is to acquire, develop and manage high-quality industrial assets and data centres in Indonesia together with INA to achieve sustainable returns as well as ESG objectives,” Kenny Lam, Chief Investment Officer and Head of Transactions, Asia Pacific Real Estate, Manulife Investment Management, said in a statement.
Manulife Investment Management through its Asia real estate team manages $3.1 billion of real estate assets in the region totaling 14.2 million square feet. In recent years, it has stepped up its focus on logistics-related assets, which the firm believes could generate value not just for investors but also for the markets.
Meanwhile, INA alongside its co-investor partners, has deployed more than $3 billion, establishing partnerships with a myriad of investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and asset managers, globally.
East Ventures, Kadin launches GHG calculator
East Ventures and The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) have launched ECOVISEA (Emission Calculator & Visualization Southeast Asia) in collaboration with WRI Indonesia.
ECOVISEA will act as a free web-based global greenhouse gas (GHG) calculator to help companies calculate and measure their environmental impact.
This initiative follows the agreement between East Ventures, Kadin Indonesia, and WRI Indonesia in Nov 2022 to show commitment towards net-zero targets.
Despite the importance of calculating GHG emissions, many companies in Indonesia – from large to MSMEs and startups – have not yet calculated their carbon footprint due to a lack of access to GHG accounting skills and knowledge.
ECOVISEA can support the companies in calculating Scope 1, Scope 2, and some parts of Scope 3 categories of GHG emissions. The full version is expected to be fully launched in the first half of 2024.
